Hospital Asset Locator

Challenge

One of the biggest issues facing today's hospitals is the hassle and delay of finding assets such as wheelchairs, IV pumps, gurneys, and dialysis equipment. When staff must spend significant time physically looking for these assets instead of tending to patients and tasks that contribute to the hospital's bottom line, it significantly hampers efficiency, productivity, revenuepotential, and patient satisfaction. Fidelus Technologies can help.

Fidelus Solution

Based on the Cisco Unified Communications platform, the Fidelus Hospital Asset Locator solution enables hospital staff to quickly and easily track and retrieve assets with the push of a button. The integrated, intuitive system works across campuses and uses the same network infrastructure and equipment many hospitals already have in place, further extending your technology investment and ROI.

How it Works

The Fidelus Hospital Asset Locator solution is easy to use, requires almost no training, and eliminates choke points such as nurses' stations. Hospital staff simply press a text labeled speed dial "Asset Locator" on a Cisco IP phone, launching an interactive voice session. After an initial voice prompt, "How can I help you", the user asks the system for the location of an asset or person (name or role) by asking simple questions, such as "Where is the nearest wheelchair", or "Where is the nearest cardiac specialist." The service responds with a voice prompt of the location of the nearest asset. In addition, a list of the next closest assets, in order of proximity, are displayed on the IP phone's LCD screen. Assets are equipped with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags or wireless IP Phones. The tags/phones emit a wireless signal that makes it easy for the solution to determine presence and real-time location.
