Cisco IP Communicator 

INTRODUCTION

Cisco IP Communicator is an application that delivers enhanced technology support through personal computers. IP Communicator is designed to meet diverse customer needs by serving as a supplemental telephone when traveling, a telecommunicating device, or as a primary desktop telephone. With IP Communicator remote users don't just take their office extension with them; they also enjoy access to the same familiar phone services that they have in the office.

From a laptop or desktop computer the IP Communicator functions like a traditional full-featured IP Phone. It allows users to place and receive calls and provides a wide variety of features. The IP Communicator uses the same network to connect to the Web or the company intranet providing access to network data and specialized Web-based services.

  • Eight line keys - These keys provide telephone lines and direct access to telephony features.
  • Five soft keys - These keys dynamically present the user call feature options.
  • Directories - IP Communicator identifies incoming messages and categorizes them on the screen, allowing users to return calls quickly and effectively using direct dial-back capability.

  • Settings - Users can select from 24 adjustable ring tones and several background images.
  • Services - IP Communicator allows users to quickly access diverse information such as weather, stocks, or other Web-based information.

  • Communication modes - IP Communicator offers handsest, headset, and high-quality speakerphone modes.
  • Telephony features - IP Communicator supports transferring; conferencing; extension mobility; drag-and-drop dialing; copy-and-paste dialing; alphanumeric translation; keyboard shortcuts for starting and ending calls; calling name and number display; call waiting; call park; call pick-up; redial; call hold; barge-in; and nonintrusive call notifications.
